The Nigeria police force, Edo state command has reinstate its commitment to promoting law and order in the state even as it reel out ways through which men of the force and the Internal Revenue Service can collaborate for effective tax administration.

Police commissioner, Barr. Chris Ezike disclosed this during a familiarisation visit to the office of the state internal Revenue Service in Benin City to have a first hand knowledge on the workings of EIRS as it engaged in revenue generation.

Ezike who was elated with the conduct of EIRS officials as they go about in their service where he also applauded the  executive chairman of the board, Chief Oseni Elamah in his effort at repositioning the entire revenue service for efficient service delivery and revenue generation in the state.

The police commissioner however, informed the chairman to be weary of those who infiltrate and pose as agent of EIRS even when they are not officially recognized saying such mischievous actions has led to cases where the public becomes reactionary.

Receiving the Commissioner and member of his team in his office, executive chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Chief Oseni Elamah thanked the police Commissioner in his recent activities at combating crime and all forms of criminality in the state.

Elamah alluded that with the visit, it is an eye opener giving credence to effort being put in place by the board in ensuring that its officials conduct themselves in an orderly manner while embarking on revenue generation.

Elamah explain that going by recent legislation and for transparency, revenue collection are not payable to tout or agent on roadside as cash are not supposed to be giving to any individual instead paid into accredited bank account.

The chairman emphasized that in the outcome of doubt, taxpayer are advised to visit any of the  internal revenue service offices for clarification and enjoin eligible taxpayers to obtain their TIN to avoid event of double taxation.
