The Executive Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS), Dr. David Nzekwu, has hailed the Edo Revenue Administration System solution (ERAS), an innovation of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service as brilliant, describing the use of revenue scratch card for the mobile collection system as innovative.
Dr. Nzekwu, made this known when he led management team of the AIRS on a study tour to the Corporate Head Office of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.
The Anambra State IRS boss said they were at the Edo Revenue House to learn from Edo on how to improve his state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) collection as Edo IRS is one of the top ten revenue agency in the country.
Speaking further, Dr. Nzekwu described as innovative the EIRS’ inauguration of the State Tax Engagement and Enlightenment Team (STEET). He added that he loved the corporate outlook, neat and serene work environment of the EIRS.
Responding, the Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service,Mr. Igbinidu Inneh, noted that for a revenue agency to optimally generate revenue for developmental purposes, it must have both financial and administrative autonomy.
He informed his Anambra State counterpart that the EIRS has done away with the practice of using unions to collect taxes for government.
The Anambra State Executive Chairman and his team were taken through the processes, procedures, success stories of each revenue stream and a tour of various departments.
