The Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service Chief Sir Oseni Elamah said the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s led government placed more priority on gender equality, hence the appointment of more women into strategic offices since inception.
Chief Elamah made this known during a courtesy visit by the National Council of Women Societies of Nigeria on him in Benin City.
The Oka-Ivbiore of Benin Kingdom who expressed optimism that the state would not remain the same in the near future, judging by the pace of on-going transformational development, said the educational sector has been transformed in the state courtesy of the red roof revolution.
He maintained that Edo State stands tall in the area of Education in the country, while enumerating some of the visible infrastructural projects of the present administration across the state.
According to him, unlike other states of the country which owe backlog of workers’ salaries, Edo State has not defaulted as it has paid up to date salaries of workers.
On the issue of taxation, Elamah pointed out that some persons are yet to be captured into the tax net, hence the need for partnership between the EIRS and the women body with a view to reaching out to all and sundry in terms of enlightening and sensitizing them on the need to key into the tax regime of Edo State.
State President of the group, Omoluru Aigbokhae Eniye described the women body as a non-political organization founded in 1958 with the purpose of enlightening the women about the scheme of things.
Eniye said they were on the visit to felicitate with the Executive Chairman, EIRS, on his monumental achievements in the revenue administration of Edo State.
Adding that since Elamah assumed office, the issue of touting, which she said characterized the past administration have been eradicated from the system.
Describing the Tax Identification Number (TIN) project as a welcome development in the Tax system, Eniye lauded the EIRS boss for raising the bar of success in the tax regime.
