A meeting of the Joint Revenue Committee of Edo State has been held with a view to brainstorming on effective implementation of the Land Use Charge.

In his remark, the Executive Chairman, of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS)                        Chief Sir Oseni Elamah, said the meeting is held periodically in view of distributing the revenue collected so far to the various stakeholders which includes the state, local governments and the revenue collection authority.

Chief Elamah who stated that the meeting was in line with the law, acknowledged the support and cooperation from stakeholders as regards compliance with the Land Use Charge.

He stated that effort has been stepped up towards enlightening /sensitizing the people on the Land Use Charge, just as he specifically praised the Nigerian Bottling Company and other organizations that have voluntarily complied.

The commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Francis Evboumwan said the meeting was aimed at bringing members together in terms of collaboration towards strengthening the implementation of the Land Use Charge.

The Chairman, Ikpoba –Okha Local Government Council /Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Hon. (Mrs) Itohan Ogbeide, described the meeting as a transparent one that affords the local government chairmen the opportunity to be aware of what is collected in terms of tenement rate and Land Use Charge.
