The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Otunba Hon. Oladele Bankole-Balogun, Esq., has been conferred with an Award of Honour by the Edo State New Building Materials Sellers Association in recognition of his transformative leadership and outstanding contribution to expanding the State’s financial frontiers.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the association’s executives at the Revenue House in Benin City led by the Association’s President, Hon. Osahon Iguodala Gabriel.
In his address, Hon. Iguodala congratulated the Bankole-Balogun-led EIRS Board on its appointment by His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo. He specifically commended the revenue service’s “bold initiatives and steps” which have been instrumental in significantly improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Edo State.
Iguodala also acknowledged the developmental strides of the Governor Okpebholo led administration. He stated that the purpose of the visit was to seek an audience with the EIRS to discuss tax-related issues affecting their members’ businesses. He emphasized the association’s desire to support the state’s improved revenue drive by ensuring its members operate within the tax framework.
Receiving the award plaque on behalf of the Executive Chairman and the entire EIRS Board, the Executive Director, MDA Services, Hon. Engr. Jackson Eribo, expressed appreciation for the association’s gesture.
Eribo dedicated the award to the state’s compliant taxpayers, describing them as the true heroes whose contributions fuel development in Edo State. He took the opportunity to clarify the EIRS’s operational principles, stating, “Tax assessments are personal matters based on law and not through the rule of thumb,” assuring the association of the Revenue Service’s commitment to fairness and due process.
The highpoint of the meeting was the formal presentation of the plaque to the EIRS management team.
