The State Chairman of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Edo State Chapter, Mrs Millicent Tumba, alongside her executive members have paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun Esq., at the EIRS Corporate Head Office in Benin City. The visit underscores ANAN’s commitment to fostering continuous collaboration with the EIRS highlighting mutual goals of advancing professional development of its members and supporting the State’s revenue administration.
In her introduction, the ANAN State Chairman, gave a brief of the mission and vision of the Association and what the programmes the association and its members undergo, while going on to thank the Executive Chairman for all that had been done for its members since his assumption of office. She reaffirmed the association’s resolve to deepen its partnership with the EIRS and emphasized ANAN’s dedication to supporting the Service’s objectives knowledge-sharing, capacity-building initiatives, and promoting ethical accounting principles and practices amongst its members that forms part of the Service’s workforce.
“We try as much as possible to bring up soundly qualified Accountants who can stand the test of the Accounting profession anytime they are called upon to do so, and if any of our members are lacking, we are ready to ensure that something is done about it,” she stated.
In his response, the Executive Chairman, Otunba Bankole-Balogun, commended ANAN for deeming it fit to come pay a courtesy visit and also for its professionalism and contributions to the State’s financial ecosystem while pledging the Service’s continued support for ANAN members in the Service through tailored training programs and other capacity-enhancing opportunities.
He stated, “The EIRS values the expertise of ANAN members and is committed to providing platforms for continuous learning and professional growth for enhanced productivity. We will continue to assist in every way possible to ensure our members of staff who are part of the Association, get equipped to meet modern day challenges with respect to discharging effectively on the job by sending them for training either locally or internationally as is required.”
“As we do this, I urge you to challenge your members, who are part of our staff strength, to give back to the Service even better than what they have been doing as there’s always room for improvements”
The EC expressed optimism about future collaborations, with plans to explore joint initiatives that would further strengthen Edo State’s revenue generation and financial management systems.
The visit marks another step toward solidifying the synergy between professional bodies in the Accounting sector and the EIRS, as the Service had in recent past played host to member bodies of the ICAN and CITN , ensuring that Edo State continues to benefit from a professionally driven and ethically grounded approach to revenue administration.
