The Board and Executive management team of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) have paid a condolence visit to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Pius E. Odubu over the demise of his mother, Madam Imuegbeyi Odubu who passed on recently.
Leading a team of Executive Directors to the residence of the Deputy Governor, the Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) Chief Oseni Elamah said the board/management of EIRS had come to commiserate as well as celebrate with the Odubu family on the passage of their dear mother.
“We mourn. But we actually came to celebrate her life. We love her but God loves her best.”
“That we are seated to witnessing this event means that God has given us the grace in remembering her, to celebrate those good virtues which she has deposited in you and which you have evidently demonstrated.”
“And it is evident that within this short period of her passage your little abode has become some sort of pilgrimage.”
Confirming Dr. Odubu’s ability in giving her mother a befitting burial rite, Chief Elamah said “having served as one of the longest serving members of the national assembly and one of the rare deputy governors that have exhibited character and integrity, we believe that you have what it takes to give her a befitting rite of passage.”
In his response, the Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr Pius Egberamwen Odubu said “having listened to the EIRS boss, it is clear that the EIRS team has come to celebrate with the family of odubu and not to mourn. And our burden has indeed become light because you have all come to share in our burden.”
Extolling the values of her late mother, Dr Odubu said “mama did her part. She did a marvelous job in discharging her role as the matriarch of the Odubu family. She was truly the mother of the family. And I have no doubt in my mind that she is resting in the bosom of the Lord”.
Madam Imuegbeyi Odubu passed on Wednesday 23rd September, 2015 at the age of eighty.
