Following the Sterling Leadership qualities exhibited since the assumption of office, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun was recently presented with an Award of Honour by Pinnacle Builders Homes and Properties for his trailblazing achievements and financial excellence service in Edo State. The ceremony, which took place on Friday, May 23, 2025, was held at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre hall.

Under the leadership of Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun Esq., the EIRS has made significant strides in revenue generation and tax administration. Notably, the agency has been able to generate N33.8 billion within the first quarter (Q1) and the month of April 2025, showcasing its commitment to boosting Edo State’s internally generated revenue. His innovative approaches and dedication to public service have earned him recognition and respect across various sectors

The EIRS chair has also been actively engaging in partnerships and collaborations to enhance tax compliance and revenue generation. For instance, the agency is working closely with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Edo State Branch, to promote tax education and awareness among youths. Such initiatives underscore the EIRS’ commitment to fostering a culture of voluntary tax compliance in the state.

This award not only recognizes Barr. Bankole-Balogun’s individual achievements, but also highlight the EIRS’ efforts to improve tax administration and revenue generation in Edo State. It serves as a testament to the agency’s growing impact on the State’s economic development.

In his comments upon receiving the award, Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun esq. harped on the need for all Edo citizens to support the Senator Monday Okpebholo led administration with their contributions by way of the payment of their taxes. He said, ” Let me firstly appreciate the organisers of this event and to also State that the EIRS is trying its best to ensure that the programs of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo comes to fruition in our great State.”

“I am sure everybody can see that a new Edo is rising, which is visible from the many developments in Infrastructure whether it be roads, hospitals, schools, or even to maintain our security situation. All of these great works are made possible because every one of us is expected to pay our taxes, ” he opined, while further thanking the organisers for finding him worthy to be bestowed this award of recognition.

In a similar fashion, the EIRS boss, ably represented by the Director, Taxpayer Data Mining, Mr. Valentine Adoko also recently received an award from the Department of Human Resources of the University of Benin, having been conferred an Honorary Fellowship Award for his exceptional contributions to Edo State and humanity in general.

The conferment of these awards on Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun Esq., is a reflection of his dedication to excellence in public service and the EIRS’ commitment to enhancing revenue generation for the advancement of development in Edo State. As the agency continues to innovate and improve tax administration, it is poised to make even greater contributions to the State’s economic growth.
