Over 20 illegal revenue collectors were arrested at the King Square following the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) enforcement on the ban on the collection of illegal fees and levies.
The Executive Chairman, EIRS, Chief OseniElamah who led the EIRS team to enforce Governor Godwin Obaseki’s directive of a total ban on illegal revenue collectors accused them of being notorious and issuing tickets of all kind of activities.
He took time to sensitize people on government’s purpose, advising them to endorse the new directive.
Condemning street trading and the manner in which traders were made to part with their hard earned money, especially at the illegal motor parks within the King Square area, Elamahalso noted that selling on the walkways obliterated what taxpayers money had been used to achieve.
Chief Elamah gave out the following hotlines 0811 580 8360; 0811 580 8361; 0811 580 8441 and 0811 850 8442 with which members of the public could use to alert the police whenever they are intimidated and harassed by touts to pay any form of levies or fees.
