The annual get-together/end of year party of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has been held with the Executive Chairman Chief (Sir) Oseni Elamah applauding the EIRS staff for their unalloyed commitment to duties which he said has helped to enhance the internal revenue generation of the state.
Addressing the staff at the corporate headquarters of the EIRS, venue of the ceremony which attracted workers from EIRS across the state, Chief Elamah, noted that the occasion was aimed at appreciating staff for their commitment, dedication and diligence to duties, review EIRS strategic plans for the past year and move beyond such that it will bring about an enhanced revenue system which would ensure the much needed even development in the state.
Chief Elamah who harped on human capital development as a critical factor to any successful administration assured the staff of better incentives/remuneration as well as welfare packages for them in 2015. This he said would help discourage corrupt practices in the system.
He pointed out that their contributions have brought to bear in the lives of the common man in the society through the unmatched infrastructural developments anchored on transparency, accountability, honesty and value for taxpayers’ money.
“For us to put new strategies in place, it goes beyond what we have achieved during the period under review. We really appreciate your technical skills as we intend to place you in a position where you would be seen as professional in the taxation system anywhere around the world,” stated Chief Elamah.
He therefore promised to offer scholarship to any staff who intends to aspire in ICT.
While expressing his administration’s determination to take the revenue system to an unmatched level, the EIRS boss thanked taxpayers for their support so far, while re-affirming his commitment towards ensuring a sustainable tax-friendly environment where taxpayer are expected to voluntarily pay their taxes.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of excellence awards to some deserving staff.
Amongst those honoured were Areghan Emmanuel as outstanding member of staff for the year 2014 as well as Monday Adezeli as well behaved/dedicated to duty staff for the year 2014 and amongst others.
