As parts of efforts to bringing service delivery closer to the doorsteps of motorist in the state, the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has perfected plans to set up Vehicle Documentation and Revalidation Desks in all Motor Parks across the State.
The Executive Chairman, EIRS, Igbinidu Inneh, made this known while speaking with commercial transport operators at the temporary central motor park at the Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Igbinidu Inneh, who was represented by the Executive Director, Other Revenue, Hon. Michael Ohio-Ezomo, while addressing drivers at the Central Motor Park said that “ it was imperative to station a vehicle documentation and revalidation desk within major parks across the State.”
He said “it became imperative owing to the busy nature of commercial bus drivers and to ease their accessibility of vehicle revalidation processes”.
He said the plan to set up the vehicle documentation and revalidation desk at the parks was strategic and has been perfected as it will bring speedy service delivery closer to the doorstep of motorists, noting that it would also save valuable time of drivers, commuters, drastically reduce the number of fake vehicle particulars as well as ensure compliance.
Ohio-Ezomo advised the drivers to cease the opportunity to have their vehicle particulars updated and regularized before the next phase of vehicle particulars check also known as ‘Operation Show Your Vehicle Particulars.’
According to the EIRS Executive Director, the vehicle documentation and revalidation desk will be sited in Oredo Local Government Area at Central Motor Park, New Benin Motor Park, in Egor LGA at Dyna Motor Park by Textile Mill Road and Uselu Motor Park. In Ikpoba-Okha LGA, motorist can visit Agbor Park by Ramat Park and Oka Park by Upper Sakponba. Others are Central Motor Park, Ekpoma in Esan West, Ewu Junction in Esan North East, Angle 90 Motor Park in Etsako West, Fugar Motor Park in Estako East and Afuze in Owan West.
Present at the press briefing were the Edo State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Samuel Odukoya, representatives of driving school operators, and Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Chief Odion Olaye.
