The management of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has hosted the national leadership of the Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association (NUASA) at a courtesy visit.

While welcoming the delegation at the EIRS Corporate Head Office, the Executive Chairman, Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun, Esq., ACTI, represented by the Executive Director of Income Taxes, Hon. Patrick Akhimiemona Idiake, FCA, FCTI), provided a detailed briefing on the evolution of current tax legislation.

He emphasized that the current legal framework is designed with a “human face,” specifically structured to ameliorate the tax burden on low-income earners,

provide full exemptions for those within the lowest economic brackets, streamline compliance to foster a more equitable financial environment.

Hon. Idiake reaffirmed the Revenue Service’s commitment to academic collaboration, pledging to deepen the relationship with NUASA which aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice by sensitizing accounting students to the complexities of modern tax administration.

Earlier, the National President of NUASA, Comrade Daniel Oghenerioborue Temple, expressed the association’s desire for a robust synergy with the EIRS. He specifically advocated for Tax Education Initiatives, joint workshops to enhance the fiscal literacy of accounting students as well as practical career pathways for members to gain hands-on experience within the Revenue Service.
