The Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Chief OseniElamah has urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to eliminate the phenomena of fake drivers licence and undue delay in licence renewal for efficient service delivery.
Making this remark to the Sector Commander Mr. Samuel Odukoya during his visit to the EIRS Corporate Headquarters in Benin City, Chief Elamah said the EIRS enjoys a special relationship with FRSC via the setting up of a one-stop-shop which caters for the motor vehicle registration /drivers licence application and issuance, a model which other states had copied.
However, the tax chief urged the Sector Commander to instill discipline in his men to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks which exposed to corrupt practices.
Chief Elamah while noting that the FRSC saddled with the responsibility of regulating issuance of vehicle particulars and drivers licence, sued for the proper orientation/change of attitude of officers in other to build a corrupt free and tax friendly environment, free of extortion and touting.
He insisted that the EIRS prides itself at maintaining transparency, accountability and quality service delivery to taxpayers and applicants.
Chief Elamah frowned at the incidence of fake driverslicences. According to him, the present system of receiving such licences three to six months after the due date was unacceptable in an automated system which is ICT compliant.
The Edo State tax Chief harped on the “Change Begins with Me” mantra made popular by the Federal Government as a means of eradicating corruption/sharp practices in other to build a crop of formidable and enterprising Nigerians.
