The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun, Esq., ACTI, has attributed the agency’s unprecedented success during his first year in office to divine grace, the support of Governor Monday Okpebholo, and the unwavering commitment of the EIRS workforce.

Hon. Bankole-Balogun shared these remarks during a surprise dual celebration organized by the EIRS Management and Staff to mark the Board’s first anniversary and the Chairman’s birthday.

Visibly moved by the gesture, the EIRS boss highlighted a significant milestone in the state’s fiscal history. “For the first time ever, we have exceeded ₦100 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) within a single year. This is a monumental leap compared to the ₦68 billion recorded by the previous administration. This achievement would not have been possible without the grace of God, the steadfast support of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, and most importantly the hard work of the staff who translate our vision into results”

Hon. Bankole-Balogun urged the staff to maintain this momentum, encouraging them to not only sustain these gains but to surpass them in the coming year. He emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and professional synergy in driving both individual and organizational growth.

Earlier in the ceremony, the Secretary to the Revenue Service, Mrs. Osariemen Ogedegbe, FCTI, CNA, presented birthday souvenirs to the Executive Chairman on behalf of the EIRS Management Team.

In her remarks, she noted that the surprise event was a token of appreciation for the Oladele Bankole-Balogun led Board’s exemplary leadership over the past 365 days. She credited the Chairman’s strategic direction for the record-breaking revenue figures and the improved morale within the Service.
