Two persons Glory John and John Omoruyi have been arraigned by the Nigerian Police before an Ogbeson Magistrate Court within the Oregbeni Magisterial District in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State following their involvement in the assault of a staff of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS).
Glory John female, 30 years was arraigned on a four counts charge for the offences of conspiracy to commit misdemeanor, unlawful damage and unlawful assault punishable under Sections 517A, 355, 451 & 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol. II Laws of Defunct Bendel State of Nigeria as applicable in Edo State.
While John Omoruyi, male, 42 years was arraigned on a one count charge for failure to produce a crime suspect involved in the alleged assault of an EIRS staff.
Upon arraignment in Court before Chief Magistrate M.E. Okhuarobo (Special Grade), the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences upon which they were charged. Counsel to the defense N. Edemwande Esq, pleaded that the accused persons be granted bail.
Having listened to the appeal of the Defense Counsel and the objection to bail raised by the prosecutor Kehinde Iyawe, the Court granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with a surety each in like sum, who shall be resident within the jurisdiction of Court.
The Court however remanded Gloria John in prison custody for not been able to perfect the bail conditions granted her.
The case was consequently adjourned to 27th of August 2019 for definite hearing
