The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has decentralized its Tax Identification Number (TIN) registration by creating an additional fourteen (14) registration centers across the State.
The strategic move, made by the Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun led EIRS Board, is part of preparations to seamlessly facilitate tax compliance by taxpayers, ahead of the commencement and implementation of the new Nigerian Tax Acts, effective January 1st, 2026.
The decentralized Tax Identification Number (TIN) Registration Centers are domiciled at the EIRS Zonal Offices, namely:
- Oredo 1 Zonal Tax Office (18 Ihama Road, GRA, Benin City).
- Oredo 2 Zonal Tax Office (Former Union Bank Building, Off Forestry Road).
- Egor Zonal Tax Office (190, Uselu Lagos Road, Egor).
- Ikpoba-Okha Zonal Tax Office (Ramat Park).
- Uhunmwonde Zonal Tax Office (Eyaen).
- Ovia North-East Zonal Tax Office, Isiohor. (Premises of Eddy Grace Filling Station, KM8, Benin-Lagos Express Way).
- Orhionmwon Zonal Tax Office (LGA Secretariat, Abudu)
- Ovia South West Zonal Tax Office (Iguobazuwa LGA Secretariat).
- Esan West Zonal Tax Office (Barrack Road, Ekpoma).
- Esan-North East Zonal Tax Office (72 New Agbor Road, Uromi).
- Akoko-Edo Zonal Tax Office (Along Secretariat Road, Igarra).
- Etsako East Zonal Tax Office (Beside Zumzark Pharmacy, Iddo, Okpella).
- Etsako West Zonal Tax Office (Etsako-West LGA Secretariat, Auchi), and
- Owan East Zonal Tax Office (Owan-East LGA Secretariat, Afuze).
Furthermore, the EIRS, in collaboration with the Joint Tax Board (JTB), has introduced the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code *668# and diaspora TIN registration for faster, quicker, and simpler TIN services. With the Diaspora TIN services active across forty (40) locations in thirteen (13) countries (Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas), Nigerians in the diaspora and businesses making money in Nigeria can now register, verify, and generate TIN Certificates.
These initiatives ensure that citizens and potential taxpayers, especially those in rural and diaspora communities, can now obtain their Tax IDs conveniently.
The new TIN registration centers, USSD code, and diaspora TIN services will bring taxpayer services closer to the people, promote inclusivity, ensure compliance, foster and broaden participation in both the formal and informal economy, as well as enhance the ease of doing business.
