Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), has said it will commence the issuance of electronic tax clearance certificate (e-TCC) to all corporate and individual taxpayers, customers and stakeholders in Edo State beginning from the month of June, 2020.

The issuance of electronic TCC is part of the information technology (IT) solutions architecture of the Edo State Revenue Administration System (ERAS) built to optimize taxpayers’ database, revenue collection and reporting process.

EIRS Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Courage Eboigbe disclosed that the electronic tax clearance certificate will be issued upon application to individuals and organizations having completed tax payments.

According to him, “The electronic tax clearance certificate is part of the Edo State Revenue Automation (ERAS) Project which will be issued upon approval of taxpayer’s application and can be downloaded electronically after settlement of all taxes covering a three year period preceding the current year.

The introduction of the e-TCC will ensure a seamless verification real-time online, eliminate forgery, and further reduce TCC application and processing time. It will also provide security of document hard and e-copy using QR code scanner and digital encryption check as well as strengthening accountability in government’s revenue collection and reporting process.”

Mr. Eboigbe added by urging all individual and corporate taxpayers to always ensure the collection of their e-TCC, annually. A step he said would promote transparency, accountability and contribute to the completion of the tax process cycle.
