As part of strategic efforts to ensure an effective and efficient management of revenue administration through revenue automation, the Edo State Internal Revenue Services (EIRS), has organized a training programme for staff of the Edo State Ministry of Wealth Creation Cooperative and Employment.

Speaking at the one-day training held at the Sunny Okundia Training School, EIRS Corporate Head Office, the Executive Chairman, EIRS, Igbinidu Inneh, who was represented by Emmanuel Okodugha, Executive Director, Tax Compliance, emphasized that the need and importance of the training was based on the fact that technology cannot drive itself without human efforts.

According to him: “We believe that training is important as far as technology is concerned, technology cannot drive itself; technology are driven by people.”

Okodugha noted that at the inauguration of the current Revenue Board, ably led by the visionary EIRS Executive Chairman, Igbinidu Inneh, six critical success factor were put in place in achieving the objectives of the revenue agency. Chief amongst them was data gathering, technology, value for money, social inclusion, human capital development as well as legal and regulatory framework.

The Tax Compliance Executive Director informed that the EIRS, have developed a home grown technology that automates its tax processes known as Edo Revenue Administration System (ERAS).

The technology he said “will help both the Revenue Service and the State Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) in optimizing revenue generation across the various revenue streams in the State.

Participants at the training workshop were taken on the practical process and guidelines for raising assessment for business premises on ERAS as well service of assessments raised.
