The Executive Chairman, (EIRS) chief OseniElamah has told Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) to improve on quality and service delivery.

Chief Elamah this is possible by building on its human capital development to engender a crop of competent, qualified and dedicated staff who can sustain the affairs of the station in this digital age.

He informed the Management who were on a courtesy visit to the EIRS Executive Chairman at its corporate headquarters in Benin City.

Chief Elamah, stated that there was nothing impossible especially now that Edo State has a governor that has business perspective.

The Chairman urged thebroadcast house to help bridge information gap by airing educative, informative and enlightening programmes to shore up the tax and education and awareness of the average Edo State citizen.

He explained that the lack of tax education accounted for 20 to 30 percent setback in compliance which brought up the need for a partnership to sensitize, enlighten the public on the right tax precepts.

He said, we are desirous of bringing more people into the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) tax net. But they have to earn income, using a uniform harmonized local government revenue system hence the need for the media to eradicate 80 percent of the menace of illegal and unauthorized taxes, levies and rates.

He reiterated that the EIRS has the sole responsibility of collecting revenue on behalf of government using the new cashless platform (e-revenue) made possible with the use of Point of Sales (PoS) Machine via the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Card and the electronic scratch card while following laid down rules, processes and procedures.  He said this would earn the trust, confidence and respect of grassroots dwellers and all Edo State people to come forte and pay their tax willingly.

Chief Elamah said people’s orientation and attitude had to change in order for them to be willing to key into the tax regime. He nonetheless reassured the management team from EBS that the EIRS would work closely with them for the airing of programmes which would reach the target audience.

The General Manager, EBS, Friday Okoedion Esq. who led the crop of management personnel to the revenue house, while enumerating challenges and limitations of the broadcast station, thanked the EIRS and its Chairman for being one of the agent of government which did business with EBS and paid for such services.
