The Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Hon. Bankole-Balogun has assured citizens of Edo State that the projected monthly target of N10bn in internally generated revenue (IGR), as pledged to His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo is achievable.
In his maiden meeting with unit heads, zonal and branch managers of the Revenue Service Saturday, January 28, at the EIRS Corporate Headquarters, Balogun said the mission was sustainable through resort to identified strategies such as full digitization of the operational system, expansion of the tax net, enhanced compliance and enforcement, tax awareness campaign as well as prioritizing staff welfare and training.
He informed EIRS staff that the Service is currently experiencing a transformational journey with a clear vision and objectives anchored on the five points agenda of the Senator Monday Okpebholo led administration.
“We are on a transformational journey. Our vision and objective is clear and emanates from His Excellency’s five key areas which are health, security, infrastructure, education and agriculture which were promised to the people of Edo State.”
Balogun continued, “Recall the new board had promised His Excellency a monthly IGR of N10bn. This is achievable and must be sustainable through identified strategies such as full digitization of the entire operational system, expansion of the tax net, enhanced compliance and enforcement, tax awareness campaign as well as prioritizing staff welfare and training.
“As Tax and Revenue practitioners, we need to maximize our collection and To improve on the current process. To achieve this, we will rely on your hard work and invaluable experience to deliver on our set targets as well as to enable Governor Monday Okpebholo administration meet its developmental promises.”
While appreciating staff for their roles in the recorded successes of the EIRS thus far, Hon. Bankole-Balogun reassured of prioritizing welfare and training of the EIRS workforce.
