The Edo State Internal Revenue Service, EIRS, has held an onboarding programme for newly accredited vendors under the haulage space in Edo State.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Director, MDA Services and representative of the Executive Chairman,
Hon. Engr. Jackson Eribo, emphasized the importance of adhering to the laid down guidelines put in place for both Vendors and Revenue Collectors alike as he admonished them to follow the rules as it applies to their respective roles.
Hon. Eribo admonished all Vendors to see themselves as partners and equals irrespective of their tribe and any vendor who has any objection to the mode of operation should do so in writing.
He urged all Vendors to remain within their allocated zones and carry out their daily transactions while respecting Revenue Collectors as they are employees of the Internal Revenue Service and should be treated as such. He however warned that anyone found violating laid down rules would face sanctions.
Hon. Eribo affirmed that no one has the right to intimidate revenue collectors in the field, as they are duly authorized with identification. He encouraged revenue collectors to report issues that could mitigate against revenue collection for immediate intervention.
In the same vein, the Director, MDA Services, Mr. Francis Okuonghae gave a detailed explanation of the intricacies involved in the collection of Revenue within the haulage space as he stressed the need for strict compliance with the terms and conditions of service as outlined in their provisional letters of engagement.
The onboarding programme was attended by the Heads of MDA Services, Corporate Communications and Gaming Units of the EIRS.
It would be recalled that the Edo State Internal Revenue Service at a press conference in November 2024, had called for applications as revenue collectors from the public in the informal sector.
