As part of ongoing efforts to achieve the SHINE agenda of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo and meet organizational targets, the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) within the state.
The Executive Chairman EIRS, Otunba (Hon.) Oladele Bankole-Balogun, Esq., ACTI, made the commitment while hosting the Honorable Commissioner for Business, Trade, and Investment, Hon. Omo Anabor, during a courtesy visit to the EIRS Head Office.
Hon. Bankole-Balogun noted that while the Revenue Service is charged with administering state revenue, its success relies heavily on seamless collaboration with government MDAs. He highlighted the Board’s recent achievements, noting that within a single year, revenue collection rose to N110bn in 2025, compared to N85bn prior to the current Board’s inauguration.
“The EIRS Board, over the last year, has made significant strides in staff training and increase in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),” the Chairman stated.
To build on this momentum, the Chairman called for continued support from the Ministry of Business, Trade, and Investment (MBT&I) to help achieve and surpass the N162bn 2026 IGR budgetary target, as well as to facilitate the operation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
Earlier in the meeting, Hon. Omo Anabor explained that his visit was part of a broader tour of key stakeholder agencies. The outreach according to Hon. Anabor, is a strategic component of his first two months as Commissioner, aimed at fulfilling his ministry’s mandate.
He took the opportunity to strongly appeal for EIRS’s continued partnership.
In a separate engagement, the EIRS boss hosted Hon. Anthony Ojo, Director General of the Edo State Fire Service, along with members of his Board.
Hon. Bankole-Balogun commended the DG and his team for their efforts in mitigating fire incidents since taking office. He pledged to collaborate with the agency, proffering strategies to further reduce fire outbreaks, improve operational infrastructure, and enforce sanctions against individuals and corporate organizations for non-compliance with fire safety regulations.
