…Urges Staff, Citizens to Sustain Government’s Developmental Drive
The newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Mr. Odior John Osirenimhe, FCA, FCTI, has urged the EIRS management, as well as citizens and residents of Edo State, to support the ongoing efforts of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, to sustain the State’s developmental drive.
Mr. Odior gave the charge on Thursday, 12 March, 2026 during his inaugural meeting with the EIRS management, following his assumption of office as Executive Chairman of the revenue agency after a recent government reassignment within the State’s revenue sector.
Mr. Odior stated: “With the right skills and knowledge of tax laws, surpassing the current record is achievable. Tax is about accountability, and our Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is working with tax revenue. We also need to work. Let us encourage the government and the Governor by making resources available for him to do more in providing infrastructure. If the Governor is paying tax, everyone should pay. All citizens and residents must pay tax. We are not taxing your capital, but your profit.”
While calling for increased engagement with critical stakeholders, the EIRS boss urged individual business enterprises, federal government institutions, multinational companies, and religious organizations operating in Edo State to file their tax returns and pay the correct taxes in line with the new tax laws.
In continuation of his familiarization with staff, the Executive Chairman toured departments, units, and other offices within the EIRS corporate headquarters, where he promised to improve on the work environment
