As part of its broader push toward digital transformation and improved public service delivery, the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has announced the complete automation of its Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) issuance process, effective July 1, 2026.

Under the new system, eligible individual taxpayers and corporate organizations will no longer need to physically visit tax offices to collect their clearance certificates. Instead, approved TCCs will be delivered directly to taxpayers’ registered email addresses, offering a faster, more secure, and convenient service.

The initiative is designed to eliminate bureaucratic delays, simplify compliance, and enhance transparency while driving the ease of doing business across Edo State.

To ensure a seamless transition, the EIRS has urged all taxpayers, corporate entities, and key stakeholders to verify and update their contact details specifically active email addresses ahead of the July 1 launch date.

In a Public Notice issued by the EIRS Management, it emphasized that maintaining accurate contact records is crucial to avoiding operational disruptions or delays in receiving vital tax documentation.
”A valid, active, and correctly registered email address is essential for the successful delivery of tax clearance certificates and other official communications,” Eboigbe stated. He advised taxpayers with outdated or incorrect records to visit any EIRS branch or zonal office across the state to update their details prior to the rollout.
