The Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Chief Oseni Elamah has asserted that the President elect, Muhammadu Buhari will block all the various drain pipes that have become a leakage to the national treasury to finance the change promised Nigerians.

Chief Elamah who made this assertion in Benin City while fielding questions from the newsmen in his office, said those pipelines that have become a drain to the nation’s treasury will not only be blocked by Buhari, but will be permanently removed.

The changed will lead to huge savings hitherto lost to a cabal of crass opportunistic individuals that have feasted on the common patrimony of the people.

“Those resources would be blocked and freed to meet the welfare of Nigerians as articulated in the change document encapsulated in the All Progressive Congress (APC) manifesto”, Chief Elamah said.

Going down history of the Oshiomhole’s administration, Chief Elamah recalled that many people wondered how oshiomhole was going to tackle the many challenges that buffeted Edo State. “Even when the Oshiomhole Administration came on board, Edo did not have the avalanche of opportunity available at the Federal level. We demonstrated that it was possible to effect the needed changes and put it at the pedestal of development for the people.” Oseni Elamah remarked.

He expressed deep concern over how a clique of individuals control more than 95 percent of the nation’s wealth and resources and expressed the optimism that of the Buhari-led government will dislodge the clique and the resources made available outside the resources that will come from oil resources for the vast majority of Nigerians.

The Edo State Tax Chief noted that all over the world, government policies and programmes are run on taxation.

He said the new government will focus more on production and manufacturing by building industries and encouraging export with value addition which will help bolster the nation’s economy and create employment for our teeming youths.

Chief Elamah pointed that once the issue of security is tackled effectively and the economy running well, with the enforcement of taxation laws, the electoral promises of the Buhari administration would be met with ease.
