In recognition of his exceptional contributions to his chosen career, society and humanity in general, the National Association of Postgraduate Students (NAPS), University of Benin, Nigeria has conferred an award of excellence on Hon. John Osagie Inegbedion FCA, FCTI, Chairman Taskforce on Internally Generated Revenue, Edo State Internal Revenue Service.
The conferment of the award took place during the association’s 2024 Web Summit with its theme: Skill Acquisition, Recipe for a Successful Career, held at the Professor Festus Iyayi’s Hall, Faculty of Management Sciences.
Receiving the award on behalf of the EIRS revenue boss, Eboigbe Courage Head, Corporate Communications of the revenue agency, commended organizers of the award ceremony for the careful selection and recognition of Hon John Osagie Inegbedion as an awardee.
He said: that the selection of Hon Inegbedion by the student’s body demonstrates clearly the fact that Hon. Inegbedion is a thorough bred professional who is committed to the development of Edo State via driving an efficient and transparent revenue administration process. Adding that the award will further spur him more to sustaining his positive track records.
He charged the students to be worthy citizens of the country, ambassadors of the university and the association by joining hands in the development of the society where ever they find themselves by paying their taxes when economically engaged.
In his presentation titled ‘Strategies for Business Growth’, Dr Godstime Ikhu- Omoregbe, defined strategy as steps, plans put in place in other to be different from others and should be applied due to business competitiveness. He urged students and participants to present at the one day web summit, to embrace the positive use of artificial intelligence as a business strategy if they must strive in business.
Speaking on the idea behind the awards, President of NAPS,
Dr. Chris Ovie, informed that the Postgraduate Students Award is presented to distinguished alumnus and non alumnus of the University of Benin that have achieved extra ordinary progress in their chosen career and have impacted society and humanity in general.
He said: “The nomination/selection process was opened to the university community through a credible and transparent process”.
