The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) said it has secured Court Orders to distrain against erring tax defaulters in the State particularly those whose tax liabilities that has been established against as final and conclusive.

This was contained in a statement issued by the      Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) and made available to the press, stating that the Court Orders shall be executed in a State wide enforcement exercise beginning from Tuesday 28th May, 2019.

It will be recalled, that the EIRS in a public notice, had earlier notified the general public of its move to embark on an aggressive tax enforcement exercise of all revenue owed Edo State Government, particularly Personal Income Taxes, Consumption Tax, as well as Road Taxes.

The EIRS had further informed the general public of the engagement of private legal practitioners who will work with the Revenue Service to vigorously prosecute tax defaulters.

The statement added that the EIRS is desirous of sustaining its efforts at creating a tax friendly environment by constantly enlightening the public of tax process and urged all tax defaulters in the State and those who may want to feign ignorance of series of previous notices, to pay up all outstanding tax liabilities owed Edo State Government in order to avoid the consequences of prosecution.
